It’s one of those things, if you are born with them you don’t like them, if you don’t have them then you want them. Personally I find them beautiful. Yes I am talking about freckles. Thanks to massive celebrities like Kate Moss, Olivia Munn, Giselle Bündchen and most recently, the new Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, freckles are back in!
Makeup that is flawless and more 'au naturale' seems to be a trend that is dominating our runways and pouring into our lives. Freckles are not only original in their own right, they also make you look more youthful, and who doesn’t want to look younger?
If you aren’t lucky enough to be born with freckles there is a way to get more realistic freckles, let me fill you in.
Firstly let me just say, I have seen the stick on freckles and I wouldn’t recommend them, as I think they don’t look very natural and there are better ways to accomplish a more believable look.
Brow products are your best friends when it comes to freckles, anything from a blonde brow mascara, to a brow pencil. Use a light to medium brown colour to start with, especially if you have fair to medium skin. For darker skins you can use darker warmer tones.
If you are using a brow mascara or a gel use a thin brush, press lightly and dot on. Not all freckles are created equal, so if you find you create unusual freckle shapes then that’s a good thing.
Start with the majority of freckles around your nose and cheeks, and then try a few on your forehead and chin.
Faux freckles tend to look more natural with a sheerer foundation, especially if you start with freckles first then a natural liquid foundation over top. However you can always put them over the top of a full coverage foundation then lightly dust some powder over the top to blend them in.
Remember to finish off with a Bronze powder for a natural sun-kissed look.
Do you love freckles too? Have you attempted to create your own? I’d love to hear about it. Comment below.
